We appreciate your cooperation in the prevention of crime and apprehension of suspects on the University campus. Your crime tips help keep tuition down. What information should I have ready when calling in a crime or suspicious behavior?

  • Your name
  • Your address
  • Your phone number
  • Brief description of the problem or situation

A police officer will be dispatched to your location to take a report and, in most cases, a witness statement so we can be as accurate as possible.

Can I get a copy of the police report?

Unless it falls under an exception to the open records law, a police report is available to the public at a small cost.

How else can I report suspicious behavior or a crime on campus?

The UIPD is not the only channel to use when a problem arises. When criminal charges do not apply or a joint-investigation is necessary, you may be referred to one of the following resources.
