ICPD Issues Warning About Phone Scams

The Iowa City Police Department is warning residents of 'deceptive' phone scams from an unknown individual claiming to be a member of the Iowa City Police Department or the Internal Revenue Service.  UIPD has received several calls indicating that at least four of these calls have been received by University Employees on campus as well.  If you receive one of these phone calls:

1. Never give out personal information of any kind over the phone.

2. Never give anyone money or credit card information over the phone.

If you feel that you may have been victim to this scam, please contact the Johnson County Emergency Communication Center at 319-356-6800 to initiate contact with the ICPD.
