University of Iowa officials received a report of a sexual assault that occurred on Saturday, Feb. 22 at an east side residence hall. Indications are the assault was perpetrated by an acquaintance.

DPS to begin offering desktop notification option for Hawk Alert

The UI Department of Public Safety and UI Information Technology Services have partnered up to expand Hawk Alert emergency messaging options on campus by adding a desktop “pop-up” notification option through a client called Alertus desktop. The emergency desktop notification option will be installed on centrally supported computers in campus classrooms and lecture halls over winter break.

Apply for the 2020 Citizens Police Academy

The University of Iowa Police Department, in cooperation with the Iowa City Police Department, Coralville Police Department, Johnson County Sheriff's Office, and the North Liberty Police Department, offers a Citizens Police Academy for members of the community. The goal of the Citizens Police Academy is to promote a better relationship between police officers and citizens.

Hawk Alert test to take place Monday, Sept. 16 at 10 a.m.

The University of Iowa Department of Public Safety will test the Hawk Alert emergency notification system at approximately 10 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 16.

Tests of our campus emergency notification system are required by the Clery Act, and are necessary to evaluate the university's ability to issue timely notifications when there are immediate threats to physical safety in emergency situations.
