In the interest of campus safety, we want everyone to be aware that on Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2019, at approximately 1:09 a.m., the Iowa City Police Department responded to the report of an assault that possibly occurred in the 700 block of E. Washington St. The victim was reportedly grabbed and forced to the ground, before getting free and running to safety.
The suspect is described as a 19 to 25-year-old, white male with silver/blonde hair. He was reportedly wearing a blue V-neck American Eagle shirt, khaki shorts and weighed 150-160 lbs.
The University of Iowa Department of Public Safety, Iowa City Police Department and Iowa City branch of the NAACP are partnering to host a community training to reduce the influence of implicit biases.
The training will be conducted by the UI Department of Public Safety on Monday, July 9, 2018 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the University Capitol Centre (UCC) room 2520D on 200 S. Capitol Street. Parking is available at the Capitol Street parking garage adjacent to the Old Capitol Town Centre.
In an effort to enhance campus safety efforts, Facilities Management Key & Access Services will become a part of the Department of Public Safety on July 1, 2018.
“Integrating DPS and Key & Access Services presents a unique opportunity to leverage the exceptional talent in both departments to create a more integrated and efficient security operation for the entire campus,” says Scott Beckner, assistant vice president and director for the UI Department of Public Safety.
