UIDPS Announces Security Division Promotions

The University of Iowa Department of Public Safety is pleased to announce the appointment of the following people to the position of Security Division Supervisor:

Joshua Kennedy of Altoona, began his career at the University of Iowa Department of Public Safety in 2013 when he became a Public Safety Security Officer. After nearly two years working with the Security Division, Kennedy spent a year in the Communications Division as a Public Safety Dispatcher before being promoted to his current position. A 2001 graduate of Southeast Polk High School, Kennedy spent four years in the United States Army, serving two tours in Iraq before coming to the University of Iowa and completing a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Computer Science in 2012. In his spare time, he likes playing video games, going to comic book movies and reading all of the ‘A Song of Ice and Fire Books.’ He assumed his duties as Security Division Supervisor on December 4th, 2015

Jonathan Ron of Ra’anana, Israel began his career at the University of Iowa Department of Public Safety in March of 2016. Ron has over twenty years of experience in the security field, including the Israeli Military, Law Enforcement and counter-terrorism. He has conducted threat and vulnerability assessments for major airports in the United States and around the world as well as developing and training both security and police departments in counter-terrorism techniques. He served in the Israel Defense Forces as both active duty and reserve duty between 1994-2005 and has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Government Studies and a Master of Arts Degree from Tufts University. In his spare time, he likes to spend time with his family, travel and watch football.
