UIPD issues Crime Alert 23-06

In the interest of campus safety, we want everyone to be aware of a motor vehicle theft near campus. UI officials received a report on Friday, June 3rd, 2023 that a pickup truck was stolen from the parking lot of the Public Policy Research Building on the 600 block of East Jefferson St. sometime between 7:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

In the interest of campus safety, we want everyone to be aware the University of Iowa Police Department received a report of a burglary on May 16, 2023, at the Aspire at West Campus residential housing facility. The resident was away for a period of time and upon their return, found their door unlocked and items stolen. This incident is currently under investigation.

UIPD issues Crime Alert 23-05

In the interest of campus safety, we want everyone to be aware that University of Iowa officials received a report of forcible fondling, a form of sexual assault, that occurred during the daytime hours on Monday, May 1 near the Iowa Memorial Union. According to the report, a man wearing a black sweatshirt and black ball cap slapped the victim's buttocks while riding past her on a bicycle. The victim did not know who the man was. University of Iowa Police believe they have identified the suspect and are seeking the public's assistance to gather more information about this incident, which remains under investigation.

Phone Scam – Impersonating a Police Officer

The University of Iowa Police Department wants you to be aware of a phone scam that is currently targeting parents and guardians of UI students. UI Police have received reports from parents and families of students who stated a caller contacted them claiming to be a member of the UIPD, spoofing the department's legitimate non-emergency phone number, and impersonating an officer in an attempt to gain your trust.
