Ali Younes Sentenced to 50 Years for Attempted Murder, 1st Degree Robbery

The sentencing comes after Ali Younes robbed and strangled a person in April of 2022, prompting a Hawk Alert. UI Police arrested Younes less than 24 hours after the original crime, and later facilitated a self-surrender process after he fled to Jordan while awaiting trial.
Increased police presence downtown planned for weekends

Starting this weekend, the UI Police Department will provide four additional police officers to conduct joint patrols with ICPD on Friday and Saturday nights during peak hours.
