Fingerprint Services

The UI Department of Public Safety is currently offering fingerprinting services. Please follow the instructions below.

  • Call UI Police at 319-335-5022 to schedule an appointment at least one day in advance.
  • No same day or walk-in appointments will be honored.
  • Bring a state issued photo ID/Passport.
  • If you have a fingerprint card in hand prior to your appointment, fill out all personal information before your arrival.
  • Limit the number of personal items you bring to your appointment, if possible (backpacks, suitcases, etc.). Purses are okay.
  • Only one person will be allowed in the fingerprinting lobby at a time. Do not bring guests or children to your appointment.

The Security Division provides fingerprinting services for all students, faculty, staff, immediate family members of students, faculty and staff and any recent graduates (within the last year) for a fee of $10. All other members of the public can utilize our services for a fee of $20. Photo identification is required and we accept the following forms of payment:

  • VISA
  • MasterCard
  • Discover
  • American Express
  • PayPal
  • Apple Pay
  • Android Pay
  • Samsung Pay

We use fingerprint form FD258. If you wish to provide your own, forms can be downloaded from the FBI website and should be printed on cardstock paper. However, most professional licensing boards (medical, nursing, teaching and law) will send you fingerprint cards.

Hours

We strongly encourage people to call ahead (319-335-5022), as we cannot anticipate changes in staffing due to sickness, vacation or re-assignment. We do not provide fingerprinting services on weekends or university holidays.
