As a result of an investigation into the shots fired on Dec. 25, 2023, which led to Hawk Alert, Iowa City Police have made multiple arrests.

Now that winter weather has arrived, and colder temperatures are expected, it’s important to check the weather forecast before traveling and plan accordingly to stay safe.

Campus Safety has teamed up with Undergraduate Student Government and Graduate and Professional Student Government to distribute personal safety alarms to students. Those interested in receiving a personal safety alarm should mark their calendars, and plan to attend an upcoming safety tabling event. Please be prepared to present your student ID.

Campus Safety is rolling out several updates to its Nite Ride service in an effort to decrease wait times and expand safety services on campus.

Winter Break is just around the corner. Campus is sometimes less populated during this time, but Campus Safety is always open. Here are a few tips for a safe time away, whether you live on campus or off.

No explosives or dangerous materials were located. The motivation for the threat is not apparent or known at this time, and this incident remains under investigation.

The University of Iowa Police Department is sad to announce that K9 Jago, who joined the UI Police Department in January of 2014, is set to retire this week due to his age. With 9 years of service, Jago is the department’s longest serving K9.

All items donated should be new or gently used. Donations will be accepted daily from Tuesday, Nov. 7 until Friday, Dec. 1, 2023 at a number of locations across town, including Campus Safety.

ICPD located the reporting party and upon further investigation, found no evidence of the reported crime. This incident remains under investigation.

On Tuesday, Oct. 3, at approximately 3:23 p.m., UI Police officers responded to the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics Emergency Department for a report of a possible domestic assault involving a weapon. As officers arrived, the suspect’s vehicle was spotted leaving the area of the hospital. Officers followed the vehicle for a short distance before initiating a traffic stop at the intersection of Grand Avenue and Byington Road, at which point the vehicle fled and a pursuit ensued. No injuries were reported in connection with the pursuit, and there is no ongoing threat to the public.
