The University of Iowa Department of Public Safety (DPS) has added two new K9 officers to its team. They will help enhance safety at an increasing number of special events on campus and aid in the department’s community policing efforts.
Area first responders and local hospitals are participating in a Johnson County Emergency Management training exercise at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center (CRWC) at 7 a.m. on August 13, 2019. The CRWC and surrounding area will return to normal operations at 2 p.m.
We wish to assure you this is only an exercise and not a real emergency. The area will be clearly marked. However, the goal of this exercise is to make the medical and law enforcement response as realistic as possible.
The UI Department of Public Safety is pleased to announce the promotions of Officers Derek Carlson and Sanda Trestian to the rank of sergeant.
The University of Iowa Department of Public Safety has received the death certificate for Gerald Belz from the Johnson County Medical Examiner Department. The cause of death was hypothermia due to cold exposure. There was evidence of recent use of THC. The Medical Examiner Department has concluded that the death was an accident.
